Physical exercise allows children to be creative, cooperative and competitive and to face up to diverse challenges both as individuals and in groups. Being active helps ease anxiety, tension and stress which, in turn, helps with improved attention in class.
At Snaresbrook Primary School we know how blessed we are to have such an open green space. Our school field is situated at the back of our school, near our Avon Way entrance. The field is utilised in many ways; daily playtimes, after school clubs and sporting events as well as a resource to support specialist teaching such as orienteering and our O.W.L programme (Outdoor Woodland Learning).
Our favourite use of the field is when we get to open our doors and invite our families in for community events such as a sports day, summer fair or a school concert.
Reading Corner is where the children can choose their own books, sit comfortably and enjoy reading for pleasure.

The beautiful outdoor structure, located near our Eagle Lane entrance, is filled to capacity with a variety of the children's favourites. Libraries are important cornerstones of a healthy community. Our libraries give our families the opportunity to get lost in wonderful stories, access a wealth of information all while at the same time providing a sense of community and collaboration as children share their discoveries with their peers.

Climbing is a fun way for the pupils to spend their breaktimes.
The climbing frame is a key feature at the top the KS1 (Key-Stage 1) playground. Purchased with the support of our wonderful P.T.A (Parent Teacher Association) the KS1 climbing frame is much beloved by our children.
Utilised daily during playtimes, lunchtimes and after school, the climbing frame boasts many areas to explore and different activities to enjoy. It is a great way for the children to develop their gross motor skills, balance, coordination and confidence through play.

Although maths happens all around the Nursery including in the sand, water, malleable and construction areas, the dedicated maths area offers children an opportunity to practise and consolidate the skills that they have been taught during adult led sessions.
Resources that are used during taught sessions are mirrored in maths area and children are encouraged to recreate previously taught learning and explore shape, measure and number using exciting and stimulating resources.
THE MATHS
AREA
Nursery pupils use early math skills within their daily routines through activities which help to make sense of numbers, time, patterns and shapes.

It puts all of the instructional materials at our fingertips and allows us to save any notes or content that is written during the lesson to share with students later on. A powerful and easy-to-use application, SMART Notebook software enables us to readily deliver interactive lessons that keep our students engaged and interested
Multiuser Pen Tray: Pick up one of the pens or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you've selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray select the colour and activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.
Modular design: The Pen Tray includes two wings on the side that allow you to add accessories, such as SMART projector controls
Lockable pen option: When we hold down a pen colour button on the Pen Tray until the light flashes then the lockable pen option will lock the interactive whiteboard into pen mode, so you can use any device and it will act as a pen. Snaresbrook is proud of its sporting culture and will often host competitions and events for both our children, lunchtime leagues & training, as well as our wider community when inviting other schools to compete in a variety of tournaments.
From inventive chefs creating mud pies to happy guests sitting down for lunch, the Mud Kitchen is a firm favourite with the pupils.
The Mud Kitchen is the centre of lots of amazing play in the Nursery garden. It supports gross motor development as the children dig out mud and carry 'heavy' buckets from one area to another. The Mud Kitchen supports imaginative play and children easily take on the role of a chef or parent preparing meals for each other and collecting ingredients to add to their recipes. MUD
KITCHEN
From inventive chefs creating mud pies to happy guests sitting down for lunch, the Mud Kitchen is a firm favourite with the pupils.
The Mud Kitchen is the centre of lots of amazing play in the Nursery garden. It supports gross motor development as the children dig out mud and carry 'heavy' buckets from one area to another. The Mud Kitchen supports imaginative play and children easily take on the role of a chef or parent preparing meals for each other and collecting ingredients to add to their recipes. A Trim Trail is a children’s obstacle course composed of different pieces of apparatus laid out to form a series of fun-filled physical challenges.
The PTA funded our Trim Trail and we are incredibly grateful for their generous gift. The trail was specifically designed to meet the physical development needs of our children and promotes upper body strength, stamina, balance and spatial awareness. Apart from the obvious benefits of a healthy and active childhood, good gross motor skills support children to develop their fine motor skills which in turn prepare them for writing, drawing and painting. Active play also promotes self-confidence, supports children to assess and manage risk and builds resilience.

Snaresbrook Primary School beat out the competition to win the Heaviest Pumpkin competition with their huge pumpkin above weighing an estimated 60kg! Maryon Park Community Garden’s Family Forest School workshop won them the Most Enterprising Activity competition.
